For anyone in North Carolina – or anyone who has friends and/or family there, as I do, this is a post that’s worth your time. Pass it on to anyone who you think needs to know about Amendment One.
Unless you’ve been hiding out sans smart phone in a cave, you’ve heard of Amendment One, the constitutional amendment up for vote in the North Carolina May primary (which is May 8, with early voting starting April 19 – get registered!). Amendment One stipulates that only marriage between a man and woman be legally recognized in NC, making it the center of heated (and often emotional) discussion, debate and rallying.
Before I delve into my thoughts on the Amendment – spoiler alert: they are not positive thoughts – I think it’s important for us to be on the same page about what Amendment One says and what it means.
