Today’s WTF: Losing Levon

Goddammit. The family of rock legend Levon Helm has posted the news that Levon is in the “final stages” of his battle with cancer.

Levon is best known for his time drumming and singing with The Band. In recent years, he has hosted the Midnight Ramble concert series.

I am saddened by this news today, and pissed off to know that another great from the world of music is about to be silenced.

I’d like to share one of my favorite Levon Helm performances with you. It’s a great song called Don’t Do It, and this is probably my favorite live version of it. Much respect and many thanks to Levon Helm – you are one of a kind, and you will be missed.

  1. Nice tribute post, Chris. It is said, “Only the good die young.” That’s not always true. Levon gave the world many decades of his amazing talent and great music, and although he didn’t die young, he damn sure died too soon!
